Rubbish Exploration

Rubbish Exploration is a development and continuation of two previous projects named Plastic Mayhem and Marine Litter Collection. Both of these projects were based on the devastation that marine litter has caused on Powfoot Beach in Scotland.

Marine debris is defined to be any anthropogenic items that have been discarded, disposed of or abandoned in this environment. These items can reach our marine environment by being brought directly by human activity or indirectly to the sea and coastline by rivers, sewage, storms, waves and wind. Marine litter can harm the oceans eco-systems, wildlife and humans.

This project explores this environmental issue through documenting the devastation caused on only one small beach on the Solway Firth.
