False Memory Recall

Memories are deeply personal, rich, full of details and we can never communicate them fully. We describe internal images and struggle to convey the abundant impressions and emotions that are intertwined with the recalled vision. Memories are also illusive. Recall is never perfect and details might be misremembered. Childhood memories are even more complicated; memories are imaginative and imaginations are recalled like memories. What we remember of our childhood might not be true at all. False memory recall is something experienced by everyone at some point but it is when recalling childhood that we cannot distinguish between our memories and our imagination with ease. This work questions the intuitive belief we have in our childhood recollections. Re-photographing shared childhood moments may anchor these past experiences or imaginations as memories. The physical presence of the images gives the moments a reality they might never have had.
